MY FIRST KINDLE BOOK
The thought of writing a book occurred to me several years ago but as is normal with most working Mothers I never really had the time. Most of my days were spent on the school run and then dealing with all the peripheral duties that fed into that, including a full time job.
A recent spell of good weather however, encouraged me to sit and reflect a while and enjoy the sun and in turn consider some of the ‘lighter’ sides of family life which I wanted to share. Many incidents revolved around one weekend break in particular . There are plenty of others in the memory banks dear reader which I may be inclined to share in the future.
I am an avid reader of books as are most of my family; we appreciate nothing better than a good read. With this in mind and appreciating a good slice of entertainment, I noted that there had been several personal experiences which I definitely thought worthy of recording for posterity with, of course, the names being changed to protect the innocent!
The book I chose to write ‘Booming across the Bay’ recalls a wonderful family weekend in North Wales. The story tells of the inexperience of two men handling a speedboat and their attempts at both ‘posing’ and trying their hand at waterskiing. The sun shone, the weather was warm and the results were hilarious.
Not having written a book before, naturally I have had moments when I have been quite anxious about getting the content right and have sought the support of those closest to me as proverbial guinea pigs to test the ‘water’ as it were. I can assure you that the incidents that are recorded in the book are entirely true and factual. The naivety of those involved was as incredible as it was real – thank goodness they were not at the helm of the QE2! I hope that those who read the book enjoy the content and can see why the events of that weekend have stuck in my memory.
With a very accident prone individual in tow, other stories are piled high in my memory bank of misdemeanours and accidents waiting to happen – quite frankly there have been some incidents which could have come straight out of a comedy sketch and these have been experienced for free. I am really tempted to share these, so maybe a second book could be on the way.
I have to confess that I found the whole ‘writing’ experience to be both pleasurable and relaxing and in recounting the events of that weekend very uplifting.
The house work may have suffered however, I have been quite direct with visitors and they are welcome to sign their names in the dust as long as they do not include the date!
For those of you toying with the idea of committing to paper, my advice is go for it – it can be very therapeutic.
